There are many traits that can make you suitable for becoming a developer, i.e. having a strong willingness to learn, passion for problem-solving, a strong work ethic, or a knack for working under pressure. If you like solving problems it can be for you, a number of problems that can arise during the job never ceases, during coding or bug fixing, there will always be something to solve. Creative? Developing apps and other software requires a creative mind, too. If you want to come out with the next big app or software you need to be creative, you need to be able to think outside the box, and you need to be able to conceptualize what people will want in the future.

Not only can anyone become a developer with the right mindset and drive, but it’s
such a large field the different paths your career could go are endless! You can reach an executive level of development, you can join certain sectors of the government, you can have your own side hustle making your own apps, you can aboard the growing data analytics field, shoot you can even wide up at Tesla developing the next car tech for Elon Musk! This won’t happen overnight though, being a programmer is not an easy task. Although, its great qualities and perks outweigh the difficulties.

Set aside the fact that being a developer is exhilarating; you have the opportunity to make a comfortable living for yourself throughout a programming career. According to U.S. News, the median salary for software developers and computer programmers is over $79,000. As the need for people like us grow, programming will continue to be the future. It seems as though almost everything is made by code now, home security and virtual assistants, all cell phones are now smartphones, the newer the car the more tech savvy it is, home appliances can now connect to wifi, and so much more. Who do you think is making all of this possible? Programmers!

If you want to be a part of the future, if you want to be in one of the largest growing fields, if you want to ensure you and your family will have a comfortable living,  then start your journey in the tech field. Whether it be taking college courses towards a computer science degree, doing online programs and self-teaching yourself, or even doing a boot camp, you will not regret it!
