We’re working on a great new project in partnership with the Philadelphia Parking Authority’s Taxicab & Limousine Division, dubbed the Multivendor Authentication System, or MVAS.
Here’s how it works: Each time a taxicab driver takes a fare, their identity and vehicle has to be verified against a number of flags that might prevent them from being on the road. Vendors use different hardware for their meter and credit card transactions and the current system is only compatible with a single vendor’s equipment. To allow multiple vendors, MVAS will provide an interface for any vendor to communicate with the PPA and authenticate a driver and vehicle.
The system has a load of requirements that are keeping our team on their feet. Because it has to respond instantly, we’re creating an application that is both light weight and still provides robust information back to the driver.
We look forward to working with the PPA on this project and building them and all of Philadelphia’s taxicab fleet a great system.
